Popo Steamboat Cafe is a new steamboat restaurant in Kepong (near Vista Mutiara Condo) offers spacious, open-air dining in a romantic and cozy environment. It is complemented by the owner's selection of nice music ranging from Chinese pop, Bossa Nova to Audiophile pieces. We opted for their house specialty Special Pork Bone Soup as the soup base for our meal. At RM18, it was a generous portion with a huge piece of pork bone Chinese herbs. It is one of the best pork bone soup for steamboat that I have tasted around. We ordered a selection of dishes under Chef Recommendation that were freshly made. The Prawn Balls were nice and juicy and so were the handmade Mushroom Pork Balls. The dumplings (Sui Kow) were also very tasty. We had the fried and non-fried version of the dumpling and they were equally nice. The Hong Kong Fried Fish Skin was really crispy and could be eated straight from the plate without going into the soup. I am a meat lover so we ordered all 3 types of sliced meat - pork, lamb and beef. They were very high-quality cuts and sliced to the right thickness. They had great texture and simply tasted good in the pork bone soup base. Something that spiced up the meal was the their specialty chili sauce. In addition to the usual red chili sauce, Popo offers their special green chili sauce freshly made from their special concotion of green chili, chili padi, garlic, onion and vinegar. Most customers seemed to be asking for extra portion of this special green chili sauce. We also ordered the Pork Satay and Chicken Wings that were again marinated and grilled / fried to perfection. It is the best pork satay that I have tasted!! I even saw customers ordering only pork satays and chicken wings to go with a beer while enjoying the outdoor night breeze while enjoying the nice music. Overall, the combination of soup, fresh ingredients, chili sauce, ambience and great music made our dining experience a memorable one. It is the perfect place for family get-togethers and big parties!  continue reading
