After seeing a picture of chilli crab on our mutual friend's Facebook timeline, my friend & I were dying to have some too. So what other place to go to that is nearby us other than Mei Keng Fatt and also because that's where we saw the picture too. Funnily enough I have not dined there for years ever since their prices has gone rather high and is now meant more for tourists rather than locals. However I can't deny that their food is pretty good if not for the price tag that is attached to each dish that's enough to make you sweat a little. Still, a craving is often times stronger than any form of logic so we ventured there anyway. Anything for good food especially when it's all we can think of.Of course we had to order the chilli crab and mantaos, half fried and half are steamed. We most definitely preferred the deep fried ones because they are crisp on the outside but super soft on the inside, absorbing the sauce super well. As for the crabs they are quite big and the meat was very fresh. We also ordered another plate of salted egg yolk crab. The man that took our order said he would give us an offer of Rm50 only as opposed to the original price and we were sure glad to have taken it. Honestly I much preferred this in comparison the the chilli crab, only because this was like an overdose of salted egg yolk. Plus the meat was super sweet because the crab is fresh. Although the price is higher than what you would regularly pay for at other seafood places, its worth trying.  continue reading

This seafood restaurant is quite popular with the family. I have been here before at night where there is valet parking service. But in the day, there is no such service. Even the main dining hall is not lighted up when we reach the restaurant. In fact besides our group, there is only another group of customers in the restaurant. We have Stir-Fried Spinach,Crispy Calamari in Honey Sauce,Baked Oysters in Cheese,Chilli Crabs (2 pieces of crabs),Curry Crabs (2 pieces of crabs),Sweet & Sour Pork,Tofu with Minced Meat Sauce, andBraised Tofu.Overall the servings are huge and delicious except for the sweet & sour pork. The sweet & sour pork tastes a bit tough to bite. The prices are not cheap, the meal costs over RM500. But the service is great. Tea is refilled regularly. The staff brings us boards, mallets and claw crackers to crack the huge sized crabs. But in the end the staff decides to do it himself at the next table. continue reading

We headed here before the hordes of hungry patrons poured in after 7 pm. Winter melon soup. Would be better if there were more seafood in this. Kampung otak-otak beancurd. Crisp on the outside, soft and sweet inside. Chilli crab. Is this Malaysian or Singaporean? Either way, an enjoyable recipe. Marmite pork ribs. Not bad but not memorable. No more ordering Marmite dishes! Beehoon kam heong crab. Less oil & salt would make this more pleasurable. Braised pork trotter. Seemed overcooked, since the meat was too tough. continue reading
