Had the Gran Fondo, a standard big breakfast with all the usual things like baked beans, sunny side up and sausages. It was average. Pancakes were fluffy and wished that they could sub out the whipped cream with ice cream instead  The coffee is good as well and they were using single origin Brazil Mogiana. Chocolate-y and nutty flavours were what I got from the tasty cappuccino! Hipster café with good coffee and ambience. continue reading

A unique name for a cafe and I guess the name itself tells us that this cafe owner loves cycling. I heard a very good review about this cafe from my friends therefore me and my sister went there for dinner. The Grumpy Cyclist is located at TTDI, Petaling Jaya (Next to Namaste Indian Restaurant). The cafe serves Beverages, Cakes and a couple of main courses. We were welcomed by the staff at the entrance and he leads us to the cashier counter to order the foods. Yeah!! You have to order and pay at the counter. Once your order is done, they will serve the foods to your table. We ordered Gran Fondo, Pasta Di Bici and Mini Palkova. A couple of people occupied the cafe when we arrived at 7pm. The ambiance of the cafe was cool with bicycle hanging on the wall and tables with T-Shirts. They have indoor and outdoor (Smoking Area) seating area for the customer. The Gran Fondo was gorgeous. A Plate of Toasted Bread, Bacon, Sausages, Baked Beans, Salad and beautiful Eggs creates the perfect choice for dinner. Baked bean was cooked with spices rather than served blend. The generous amount of vegetables was tossed with good Balsamic vinegar. I loved their dressings. Bacon was yummy and the sausages were boiled instead of fry. Healthy!! The guy who served the foods was so humble. He greeted us and explained to us about the food before serving it on the table. The Gran Fondo @ RM 18.87Pasta Di Bici was recommended by the staff. It looks small when it was served on our table, but I am full by the time I finished half of it. It was cooked perfectly with the spices. Best Aglio Olio I had recently. I liked it. Pasta Di Bici @ RM 15.09Since we were seated next to the dessert counter, I was really attracted to the Mini Palkova. Therefore, I add on that for our dessert after the dinner. Beautiful crust with cream, fresh fruit and cumin seeds. It is just to die for. Every mouthful was heaven and it always a perfect choice to end a meal with dessert. It was a good dinner for us. Friendly & humble service, delicious foods and reasonable price. Sure, drop by again. The grumpy cyclist. When i read the name of this cafe i started to imagine myself cycling with a grumpy face (lol). The name itself has caught my attention and it is located at ttdi. You can find a lot of other cafes there as well such as the table talk. The decoration is somewhat unique where a bicycle is hanging there inside a cafe (of course wishing that the bicycle will not drop on me). Other than that the counters and the environment is just similar to other hipster cafe that i have been to.I was pretty excited when i reach the cafe and like always we asked them what is nice to eat here. They suggested their pancakes. So we ordered 2 sets of pancakes (banana and strawberry) that cost around RM12 each. The plain water is free (you don't need coffee or hot chocolate if you eat something sweet). The café is a self-service concept where you have to order at the counter. As expected, the look of the pancakes itself is just too sweet. They put some honey syrup; whip cream and icing sugar all together. Of course it must be sweet, it’s a dessert (lucky i have these two friends of mine to finish it, oh but i finished up most of the fruits ). Its a hang out place for sure, you can talk all day while having your pancakes here. Overall: Pancake is good, environment isnice, the menu is limited. continue reading

This famous cafe in ttdi would definitely keeps me from saving money and spend all my money there just to fill up my stomach right? That's what I think it will be before I stepping into this cafe. It wasn't crowded at that time around 12pm. My friend ordered Pesto pasta while I ordered Apple cinnamon pancakes. Until around 12.30pm, more people walk in and sits start to get occupied. The service was alright. The most disappointed about the cafe is the food... the pesto was too salty while the portion was too small. As for the pancakes was below my expectations... It was too sweet. Well I know that pancakes should be sweet but it's too sweet. I guess all I can say is that maybe we ordered the not-so-famous dishes and not the recommended ones. Perhaps I will give another try on other dishes. continue reading
