Tobiko is basically the Japanese word for the roes (eggs) of a Flying Fish. The Flying Fish is a very common and popular type of fish in Japan. The roes are used widely in Sushis and Inaris At Sushi Q, they certainly prepared their Tobiko Sushis really well. The seaweed wrap is of course as good as usual, and the sticky rice cooked just nice.. The Tobikos ? Definitely thumbs up! continue reading

Sushi Q at One Utama is a kiosk occupying at the higher level. I passed by the kiosk and was interested to grab a snack. They have ready-made sushi displayed. I just took the smoked salmon roll as it looked delicious. Made the payment and found myself a seat provided There are 5 pieces in a box and they were kept fresh and cold. Love the taste of the smoked salmon as it was lightly smoked, burnt, and drizzled with some mayonnaise. The salmon was fresh and not too fat. The sushi rice was firm and has a hint of sweet and vinegar flavor. The salmon also tasted a little bit spicy. Eating 5 pieces all by myself was quite filling up. continue reading

continue reading

The restaurant: Sushi Q is located inside the One Utama Shopping Mall. It is actually a Japanese kiosk. Environment/interior-decor: First impression is Colourful and fun! They have a limited number of sitting place. Menu: Limited, unlike the other branches, One Utama branch does not serve donburi and ramen. You will also realized what you can order is based on what is available there. Food:Assorted sushi and sashimi box (Left: Rm 18.80) & Lobster Mayo Maki (Right: Rm 14.80)It looks appealing and colourful, but don’t let the picture fool you! The salmon sashimi was thinly sliced and the taste of the sushi was just so-so. I don’t get why people raved about the lobster mayo maki, it is creamy but that’s it! There wasn’t any much flavour, smokiness, bits or anything. It was just coloured mayo with a little flavour. In addition to all that, it was really irritating that the sushi rice keeps falling off. (In fact, I felt like going in there and teach them the proper ways to make sushi rice). Awabi (Rm 8.00)Basically seasoned abalone. Is sweet and chewy, and it’s basically the other representation of the well-known baby octopus. Portion is small.Service: Well it’s a kiosk.Verdict: I definitely won’t pay the full price for this. Luckily I paid 55% of the original price. No I would not go again unless there is a major revamp. Oh yes, I came by around 8 pm, and there was hardly anything left. continue reading
