三個月前, 它靜悄悄地在Taman Desa這美食眾多的住宅區內開業,靜悄悄地在賣選擇不多的泰式小吃,靜悄悄地經營屬於自己概念的小店,小到幾乎路過都未必察覺它的存在。它是Sanook Thai Cafe,一個繼Rayong Thai之後加入Taman Desa的泰式咖啡館。雖然裡面的空間狹小,但氣圍不錯,無論是裝潢或餐具都讓人感覺如同身在泰國一樣。 continue reading

This recently opened eatery in Taman Desa could be the closest thing to an inner-city Bangkok hole-in-the-wall that folks might find in this KL suburb.Frills-free porky fare supplies the fanfare: Start with a salad of 'laab moo' (RM8), the northeastern Isan minced pork recipe that sets off spicy-sour-savory fireworks. 'Nem' house-made pork sausages (RM9) with ginger & chili sauce. Serving sizes are small, helping Sanook charge seemingly low prices.Love crispy pork belly? Order the 'moo krob' (RM12) maybe, rustically deep-fried ...... or mixed with 'kapi' shrimp paste (RM14). Beware: The menu here's a showcase of sin, irredeemably soaked in sodium & oil, which could turn off customers looking for lighter nuances. Green curry with pork (RM8). The remainder of Sanook's selection comprises soul-food staples like som tam, pad thai, tom yum & kai jiao omelets; this isn't the type of outlet where the cooks strive to shock & awe or show off madly inventive skills. continue reading
