One day after a business meet-up with a client, I decided to take a moment out of my workday to have lunch on my own at Ben's. It had been a long while since my last visit to the restaurant so I thought why not indulge in a nice plate of pasta for the day. As always I was greeted with the restaurant manager that led me to my table almost instantly. I asked for a nice quiet corner where I can enjoy my latest read while I dined and thankfully the man was accomodating. Something I really like about Ben's is that the staff (based on my visits) have been polite and friendly which puts me in a good mood to enjoy the food.Once I sat down, I took a glance through the simple menu and placed my order within a minute. Before I entered the restaurant, I already knew what I wanted which was my favourite order of Pesto with Spaghetti. A simple plate of pasta was priced at Rm20.90. An option of grilled chicken breast is available but I decided to just have this without the protein. From the previous time I had this dish, I remember it being very nicely creamy without being too cloying and incredibly flavoursome. The in-house made pesto was very fragrant. However I was slightly disappointed by my current trial as the entire dish lacked the punch that came with a strong pesto and it was not creamy. In fact, watery would be the correct way to describe my plate of spaghetti. I assume that this time around, a pre-made pesto was used which explained the lack of oomph and also blandness.Although I had my fix of carbs like I initially wanted, I was left disappointed as it was no longer the same plate of Pesto spaghetti that I was craving for. Though the price is reasonable, I feel like the taste left little to be desired of my meal so I did not finish it. Which is a surprise for a pasta lover like myself.  continue reading

The beef patty was chunky, and barely tender - a little too dry for my liking. The fries were thoroughly and completely unexciting. Salad was a nice touch, though hard to navigate and consume.Service was terrible - almost impossible to get attention or even a fill of water, and took my food away before I am done without asking. continue reading

The restaurant serve Asian and Western food, also, wide variety of drinks which include alcoholic and also coffee. This flat white is serve with coffee art on it, very beautiful! The coffee taste is very strong too, the combination of the coffee and milk is just nice. Like! There are a lot of waitress working here, when you sit down, they will serve a glass of plain water and they are very polite. The environment here is nice too. continue reading

So there I was at Ben's Publika after an event. It was part of their lunch buffet spread. The first picture shows the roasted chicken, with pasta and potatoes. Served hot, and with Lingham's chilli sauce, it had a sweet tangy taste. I did like the way Ben's prepared their pasta without being too oily. My second dish, includes the "pai tee" from Ben's. Served in these cute top hats, it was crispy and had a nice taste when popped into the mouth. Pretty good and recommended. continue reading

With such variety of choices on the menu, ben's is considered quite a potential choice when it comes to selections with both asian and western menu. So far, the asian menu is what I really like and this other dish that I love is the Curry Laksa which is not cheap for a dish you can easily get by the street or in any hawker centers. Selling at RM 24.90, the noodles are presented very nicely in a huge bowl making eating very easy and delightful. I thought it could use a little bit more of those cucumbers. It wasn’t too spicy and the sambal is served separately so for those who don’t fancy curry laksa to be over spicy then this one is creamily gentle. While the Fisherman’s catch(RM 25.90) is serve at the right portion the coleslaw made a great add on to the otherwise dull combination of fish burger. The fillet is great, amazingly breaded to have the stunning texture on the outside whilst keeping the fish juicy on the inside. The Fish and Chips(RM 25.90) also stunningly showed off the juicy fish fillet, this tempura coated fish fillet is also as great and tasted quite similar to the Fisherman’s Catch, minus the extra carbs from the fluffy bun. continue reading
