10 Great Food Stops in The Starling Mall!

Kuala Lumpur is a favorite destination for malls, but how many of you know there’s also The Starling Mall in Damansara Uptown? Otherwise known as “the mall in a park”, The Starling Mall has will tempt you with its abundance of food. More and more new restaurants are popping up, too, so that’s all the more excuse for you to visit The Starling Mall!

1. NICSMANN 1940’s by Lewre

Who says a night life at a mall isn’t possible? NICSMANN 1940’s will take you back in time to the 1940’s for the old-style night bar life. Bottles of alcohol await your eager consumption. Those working in the mall are lucky enough to have a place they could unwind at after a long day of work. The food is just as commendable as the look of the bar, with excellent food presentation and terrific flavours that will twin well with your glass of wine.

2. Sopoong

Authentic Korean food has gotten easier to find in recent times due to the increasing amount of Korean-owned restaurant, and Sopoong is just one of them. Reasonable prices and sufficient poritons are enough to define their food. We highly recommend their kimchi stew, which has ingredients like rice cakes, sausages, etc. Ramen and udon can be optionally added, too. It’s exceptionally warming to eat and delicious.

3. Red Kettle

Red Kettle has attracted a lot of attention back at Taman Bukit Desa; now they have a second branch in The Starling Mall! This western restaurant offers all the classics like toasts, pastas, pork chops, hamburgers, etc. but what really got our attention was their ice-cream. Be it vanilla or chocolate, the texture is firm and thick, and the flavour is fragrant in the mouth and sweet without being inordinate!

4. Nam Heong

The best of Nam Heong can now be savoured at The Starling Mall. Damansara folks no longer have to go all the way to Pavilion Elite for it. At Nam Heong, folks stay absolutely true to Ipoh’s culinary heritage. Antique decorations give the store its clarity. Everything from Ipoh white coffee to wonton noodles, tau fu fa to Nam Heong’s famous egg tarts will not fail to impress you.

5. Go Noodle House

Its recent opening at Avenue K is a simple but succinct testament to how much Go Noodle House’s brand has grown. Noodles take the prime focus, with mixian being one of their popular options. The broth is one of the most noteworthy things about their noodles, aside from their plump pork meat balls; it’s clear and flavourful, salted just nicely and complements the noodles well — too well, in fact!

6. Mr. Tuk Tuk

We’re sure Thai food lovers have heard of Mr. Tuk Tuk. Guess what? You no longer have to go all the way to Sunway Pyramid just to have a taste of authentic Thai street food; The Starling Mall has them now, too! You can pretty much find most Thai delicacies here. Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice are some of the dishes you mustn’t pass on when you’re at Mr. Tuk Tuk!

7. Ah Cheng Laksa

Coming all the way from Alor Setar, Ah Cheng Laksa has now made a name for themselves for having some of the best laksa in town. Ingredients are carefully sourced from North Malaysia to ensure the authenticity of their dishes and that every single one of their customer is able to savour the same flavour. Other than their laksa, their nasi lemak and pan mee are also highly praised and recommended.

8. Co’presse

Time for us to pay attention to all you sweet tooth out there! Fresh fruit juices and cold brew coffee aren’t the only good stuff they have; their waffles and soft-serves are pretty awesome, too! Their black sesame-flavoured soft-serve is NOT to be missed. The colour is pungent in s greyish blackness and it’s practically oozing with the fragrance of black sesame. Those who enjoy black sesame will be thrilled by it.

9. Mr. Fish Fishhead Noodle

Fish head noodles are always a good choice. Mr. Fish’s fish head noodles are different from the ones you usually taste at fish head noodle shops or Kopitiam. What made us say that? No preservatives and MSG are added too! Mr. Fish’s fish head noodles are undoubtedly special and a refreshing change from the usual ones that many of us have grown used to!

10. Salad Atelier

Hey, don’t think we don’t hear you carnivores groaning at the back there! Salad is healthy, okay! Salad Atelier is a great stop for a healthy food fix. More than 60 kinds of ingredients are available and customers may customize their own plate of salad. If you’re keen on the carbohydrates, sandwiches are also readily available!
