Puchong has always been my go to place whenever I feel like having dim sum. Ever since I’ve discovered Foo Hing Dim Sum Restaurant in Puchong, I’ve never went to other dim sum restaurants because I think I’ve found the right dim sum place!!The restaurant was quite spacious and could occupy a lot of people. The place is usually packed with people during the weekends and you might even have to wait for 30 minutes to get a table. And people actually do wait just to eat their dim sum!!The price for most of the fried and steamed dim sums were quite reasonable and standardised. There’s a menu for you to refer to and the prices were all stated there. My dad, my cousin and I ordered quite a lot of dim sum just for the 3 of us! For the steamed dim sum, we had steamed golden paste with custard bun, shanghai xiao long bao, steamed dumplings in teochew style, steamed siew mai and prawn chee cheong fun. As for the fried dim sum, we had Portugese egg tart, deep fried prawns and deep fried crispy yam dumplings. The prices of the dishes we ordered range from RM 4.50 to RM 6.My favourites were the Portugese egg tart and crispy yam dumplings!! The egg tart was sinfully crispy and the tart just melts in my mouth. The crispy yam dumplings were really crispy and the flavours were spot on! In fact, all the dim sums there tasted all really good. Definitely a place I would come often!

The whole place was full to brim with a lot of the Sunday crowd. It is customary that I try the Har Kau for every dim sum place I visit. The Har Kau skin is a bit too hard to swallow and not as silky as I liked. The prawn is big enough. The chicken leg is also quite tasty. The carrot cake is just normal and nothing great to shout about. The Loh Mai Kai is the best ever with soft rice, and a lot of ingredients like mushroom, taiwanese sausage and also chicken drumstick. The deep fried mango with prawns were crispy and so delicious. The chee cheong fan has a bit too much flour and not to my liking. The prawn porky siew mai is quite ok, and quite special. The best is that the Char Koay Kak which I tried to convince my father not to order, turned out to be the best ever tried in KL as the dish was fried very perfectly. The Serai Jelly with 3 longans were so fragrant. Although this place looks like a kopitiam, the food is quite expensive where the minimum price for dim sum was RM 4.50 per plate.

There are several things I like about Foo Hing, a broad selection of food with most of them are average good, fast service, clean environment and not too crowded and stuffy setting. If you prefer an air-conditioned restaurant, this might not appear to be your choice when you see it, but believe me, the restaurant has good ventilation and air coolers that you won't feel hot at all. So why not give it a chance?Typically in a dim sum restaurant, you would order prawn dumpling, "Siew Mai" and Chee Cheung Fun aka steam rice noodles with either prawn or BBQ pork, but in Foo Hing, I would recommend you their dumpling with Bamboo pith, braised phoenix claws aka chicken feet, fried bacon roll, yam croquette and Portuguese tart.I personally don't like Malaysia's "Siew Mai" as it is made of pork. I prefer fish-based Dim Sum for its freshness, texture and taste. Prawn dumpling was good, the wrap is thin and prawn is fresh and crispy. The bamboo pith dumpling is also another must try item, it is served with a little bit of soup in a saucer. The crispy steamed bamboo pith absorbs the soup so it tastes really good. The braised Phoenix claws is tender and flavourful, always one of my favourites. The yam croquette is an item not to be missed as well. The crispy fried yam on the outside is fairly thin so you will find the proportion of yam and pork filling is equally nice when it is eaten. My mom likes it, too. Here is a picture of the braised Phoenix claws, prawn dumpling, steamed rice flat noodles and stemed fish paste that I have ordered during one of the many visits. http://relishbyrae.blogspot.com/2013/08/Foo-Hing-DimSum.html

Their restaurant's egg tart WAS our favourite. BUT not anymore! Today, while we were ordering egg tart in front of the dim sum shelf with one of the waitress and an adult came after us cut our queue and ordered all the egg tarts. Immediately, the waitress takes no consideration of us and taken the order from the adult instead of ours (We were here first!!). After that, we complained to the waitress and her response to us is that she did not heard our order (we have not finish our order and yet it suppose to be a first come first serve concept.) and she did not apologise to us. We are very unhappy with their poor service, no paying any respect to us! We will never come back to this restaurant anymore!
