Melaka? Hmm, “Melaka?” What is the first thing that came across your mind, when someone say Melaka? Well, basically I was raised up in the historical city. Melaka? Hmm, “Melaka?” What is the first thing that came across your mind, when someone say Melaka? Well, basically I was raised up in the historical city. It is a number one spot for tourists and attraction. Place, Culture, Food ; everything is there. When it comes to food, I really have to recommend everyone about the famous Portuguese dish, where could only be found here in Melaka.
Moving to the Portuguese Settlement, which is known as the Portuguese village that is locating in Ujong Pasir. It will be a five to ten minutes’ drive from the main town of Melaka. A place where all of us were from. The remaining pieces of our ancestors.
One of the restaurant that I will really recommend everyone is “Restaurant De’Lisbon”, which is my aunt restaurant. A place where the traditional and home cook food were served with full of love. One of the reason I would like to recommend people this spot is because the price is not only reasonable but the food is really delicious. Mmm, taste so good!
The first food that I would love to recommend everyone to taste is the Portuguese significant dish, the “Curry Deval” or known as the “Deval Curry”. The “Deval Curry” is actually a curry chicken. However, it is not any ordinary dish. As this dish itself, has its own way to do. It was create with the spices that could be found in kitchen. Such as the ginger, red chillies, shallots, lemongrass, turmeric and galangal. To make the taste even stronger, the elder would add the small amount of vinegar or maybe lime. It does not only, smells really good, but the smell is out the moment you start to cook it. This dish is really a mouth-watering dish. It is a must have dish for the Eurasians during their festive season or as normal day family meal.
The next dish that I would like to introduce is the “Portuguese Baked Fish”. It is not like any other fish which is burn or grill on the burner but, this is a fish where they would include the blended spices which is also known as the sambal is spread on this fish. The sambal itself makes the dish an indeed spicy, salty, and aromatic dish. Mainly been recommended by the olders is the “siakap” or stingray. Once the fish is been done grilling, the onions, cucumber and lime were added on it. Not only that it will make you to drool, but the taste is so good.
