Full Review at http://lepakwithyaops.com/brawn-and-brains-bigger-bolder-betterFollow Lepak With Yaops on Instagram and FacebookHeartiest congratulations to Brawn and Brains! After 2 years, they have finally expanded their sitting capacity and menu! Occupant of the unit facing Guillemard Road, the cafe now accommodates approximately 40 pax and includes an area for customers to hang around while waiting for their cup of boosters. On top of that, Brawn and Brains has upgraded to two bigger and meaner La Marzocco machines to serve you better and faster! Reminisce of Brawn and Brains 1.0 HERE.Matching up with market rates, Latte are now $4.5 and Iced Latte $5. That being said, their coffee still packs a huge punch and is worth every single penny!Truly inspirational! From a humble unit to the where they are now, I'm definitely looking forward to the day when they are fully operational, which includes their new kitchen extension! continue reading

There is a lot to love about this cafe; the owners are a friendly couple who takes time to interact with each customer that passes through the door, and are passionate coffee lovers who know their stuff as well. What’s more exciting is that much of the cafe’s interior are designed by the owner, who is also in the sheet metal industry and most of the furnishings are built from scratch to suit their requirements. There are two types of blends served here; a Sumatran blend which is a sharper and more intensive blend and the Organic Fair Trade Honduras Blend, which is more buttery and nutty. For those who loves a slightly stronger taste for their Flat White ($3.50), it would be recommended for them to go for the Sumatran blend which has a stronger aftertaste.Due to the small size of the kitchen, the items sold here are mainly sandwiches as only roast, grill and baking can be done. The Tuna Mayo Sarnie ($4.90) was pretty impressive. There was just enough tuna to the mayo used, which creates the flavour just right without having the cloying taste of sauces or the slightly fishy taste that tuna spreads may have. The cheese also had a light taste that compliments the ingredients well, and there was a healthy amount of vegetables added for the health-conscious. This could probably be one of the best options for those who are looking to eat clean; served with a side of chips. The Earl Grey Cake ($3.50) was also pretty light and had a nice crispy crust on the top. The taste of tea was evident yet not overpowering, giving a very well balanced, aromatic flavour. The Blueberry Lemon Slice ($4.00) looks similar to the Earl Grey Cake, but differs a lot in taste. It was zingy, but the Blueberry though fresh, can be a tad sour for some who have low tolerance for sourness.Brawn & Brains is not your typical cafe. What you are looking here is a cafe that has a lot of potential with a strong character and soul, which is something often forgotten in most cafes that have opened of the late. It's uniqueness shines through, which is definitely one of the factors that will bring me back again. continue reading

I needed to head to Kallang to get some things done and Brawn & Brains came to mind. I read about this cafe somewhere on the net before and knew it was somewhere around the Mountbatten area. I researched on the location and drop by this cafe for a quick coffee break! This cafe is more like a hidden find and it is certainly not convenient to come here if you do not stay around the area. I ordered a Flat White and the lady boss I suppose said that there were two beans available today. She described the Sumatra beans as being more intense than the Brazilian beans. Well, I chose the Brazilian beans as it seem like a safer option! continue reading

For full review and more photos, please visit http://makanarts.com/2013/09/21/brawn-brains-100-guillemard-road/I had the Iced Caffe Latte, which is the more popular drink here. They had 2 type of coffee beans: organic fair trade and Sumatra Lintong (blend), which I had the former. This had a double shot of ristretto. One taste and I really enjoyed it. It doesn't have a strong bitter taste while retaining the strong coffee taste. Possibly one of the nicest coffee I have taken to date. continue reading

Went over one short afternoon. They are in the corner of the building which is not easily seen. Glad to found a nice cafe. Lady boss was very nice. Kept greeting and talking to customers whom walk in. They sell earl Grey cake which is their top seller cake. Taste nice and not sweet. We order mocca from them. Their mocca have very rich aroma and taste. Normally i don't drink coffee but their mocca is worth to have a try. One of the Best mocca i had. continue reading
