FoodMy colleague had shared the plate of char kway teow (CKT) with me. This plate of Char Kway Teow looks appealing to me initially but when it comes to tasting the food, I do have a different point of view. Although the color is dark enough, the plate of CKT was simply too dense to my liking. The sweetness was inconsistent with some portions of the Kway Teow not coated with the dark sauce. Portions of CKT is not an issue as they are quite generous with the ingredients especially the cockles. An adequate amount of sliced fish cakes and chinese sausages were added as well.AmbienceDuring the night, not many stalls in Red Hill Food Centre are in operations. However, as Redhill Food Centre is located in an old estate, you get to see folks crowding around the tables chit chatting among themselves. There are also a number of folks who are walking around trying to sell off the bag of tissues papers on hand. PricePrice still falls within the market standards for a plate of CKT, however if we were to compare with a similar pricing, we are able to get a better plate elsewhere.Given the chance to visit again, I will like to try their tasty prawn mee! continue reading

The FoodI ordered a bowl of tasty prawn mee served with two big prawns and a piece of pork rib. The delightful broth is very flavorful with the strong and rich essence of seafood hence blend well with the tasty noodles really well. The large full de-shelled prawns are very fresh, juicy and sweet. Lastly, the pork rib is tender and well-marinated.The PriceReasonably priced at $3 per bowlOverallKhoon Kee Tasty Prawn Mee is indeed one of the less well-known but more fantastic prawn noodles in Singapore hence is a definite must-try for all prawn mee lovers. continue reading

My friend who stays near the redhill area recommended me to this stall, which he says serves very good prawn noodles. I decided to order the prawn noodles dry and I was quite shocked to see that the prawns are so large and bright. It looks exceptionally fresh and it is really sweet and fresh. I have not had such fresh and sweet tasting prawns except in restaurants, so this is really good. With such good sea prawns, the soup is tasty as well, it is thick, rich and bursting with prawn goodness. After tasting such goodness, it is quite hard for me to like any other prawn noodles since I will not help but to compare to the prawn noodles at this stall. Highly recommended! continue reading
