Tajimaya offers weekend buffet. The hands-on Japanese Yakiniku experience over charcoal grill is always fun. One can simply enjoy the amazing view of Sentosa & Resorts World Sentosa while eating.Frankly speaking, I  am always afraid of barbecue because of the possible smoke and greasiness. Surprisingly, I still walked out of the restaurant smelling good. All thanks to the high performance exhaust system!Their buffet pricing is slightly steep but the ingredients are really fresh & the meat are well seasoned. We especially love the Wagyu Karubi, pork belly & garlic rice (very fragrant). Their sashimi were thickly sliced & fresh & their prawns were big. They have a sauce dish which contains 3 types of sauces in 3 separate columns, for beef  seafood & chicken/pork. The meat still tastes good regardless of any sauce you dip in Overall, we had a nice experience dinning at Tajimaya. continue reading

See my full reviews & photos at = http://chefquak.com/2014/07/20/good-3pax-yakiniku-dinner-tajimaya-vivocity-on-20jul2014/we had always gone to aburiya. maybe it was familiarity & convenience, even though we knew that tajimaya by the creative eateries group had amex discounts.this the first time we were dining here. amex offer was 1person off, so 33% discounts for 3pax alacarte exclude drinks.looking at the menu we felt the prices were kind of expensive. another negative point was they did not serve tap water. so only 2 options – pay S$5.90++ for 1litre bottled water OR S$3++pax for tea (refillable). we ordered 3 tea, but if i go again, i am quite prepared to go w/o water during the meal. i am ok with restaurants charging for water. however i think it should be like S$0.30 or S$0.50 or max S$1 & refillable, NOT S$5.90 for 1 litre water (bottled or tap).we added the wagyu towards the end decided that since we were there, might as well gave it a try. the kuroge wagyu (黑毛和牛) karubi (short ribs) was good. not sure if worth money even with 33% discounts but it was good. our first orders were the USA ribeye & karubi, and the kurobuta pork jowl. all were good though my wife preferred the beef shio (just salt) so we late had the wagyu order shio.for me, both beef were good, and the kurobuta was best. we had the beef ishiyaki don. we must be hungry as we added also the pork ishiyaki don.how did tajimaya match up with aburiya. we missed our favourite kimchi chigae & the bibimen (cold spicy noodles) at aburiya. the ishiyaki don here i would rate as better than aburiya’s bibimbab as it had a lot more ingredients – quite substantial beef & pork. meat wise my wife still preferred aburiya. i am ok with both.our dinner was S$186nett for 3pax after discounts. that though included the expensive wagyu & also S$30++ for sake & S$9++ for 3 tea.for me, tajimaya was too ex w/o discounts. with discount, it was an alternative to aburiya though I preferred aburiya also for the kimchi chigae & bibimen continue reading

Its another friend's birthday and she says she want to try this Japanese BBQ restaurant at Vivocity. The bbq setup on the table. The prawn tempura is quite nice, crispy and the prawn is fresh.Marinated pork slices, I cannot remember the exact name for this, but the meat is marinated and when bbq is nice and tender.Mushroom Combo, our favourite, all 4 of us love mushrooms and the mushrooms is to be bbq with butter, the melted butter and the mushroom is great, a little salty from the butter and yet nice.Wagyu Tongue, one of my friend always travel to Japan and say Wagyu Tongue is so nice and so she recommended us to order and try. When she first say tongue, I am like "what? tongue?" she bbq one slice for me to try, it is so tender and soft, the tongue meat is so different from the normal wagyu beef, it is so much softer and tender, nice. continue reading

Is one my gf's birthday and she choose to dine here ... is also my first time here. Thanks for the recommendation! We order set to share and order ala carte for fish and chicken. One of my gf was raving about the cow's tongue I don't take that so I gave a miss but seeing them eating happily and feel so satisfied I am sure it was good! The chicken was tender and fish was fresh .... we ordered the Garlic fried rice to share as well which was really fragrance we spent about $60 per pax and I feel is kinda ex as I can get better Korean bbq with more spread and cheaper than that . But overall is a good dining experience for me! Ambiance was good service was prompt! continue reading

Tajimaya Yakiniku has a good variety of Japanese beef, pork cuts as well as seafood drizzled with their self-concocted sauce that adds a punch of flavour to the meats. I will recommend the Kurobuta Pork Jowl as well as the Kurobuta Pork Belly. The fats from the pork belly made it even more tender and flavorful. The pork here is also very tender and mouth-watering. continue reading
