Introduction
Previously known as Baker’s Inn, Bakerzin started out in 1998 as a modest patisserie located off Sembawang Road, Singapore, dealing with wholesale orders and supplying French bread and pastries to restaurants and hotels. During this time, founder of Bakerzin, Daniel Tay, and his team of passionate bakers began experimenting and conjuring new and indulgent creations. As word spread, Bakerzin steadily gained a reputation in the industry as not just an authentic French bakery but one with an excellent selection of scrumptious sweets on its order list. continue reading

Bakerzin has been around for years, serving gourmet pastries as well as delicious savoury dishes. Today, we visited the outlet at United Square and got to enjoy their afternoon tea time promotion (weekdays 2-5pm) - a slice of cake and a coffee / tea for just SGD$9.80!For the cakes, *Hallie chose the Adagio (usual price SGD$9.50) - crunchy hazelnut praline, topped with valrhona chocolate, cream, sacher sponge, and hazelnut mousse. A scoop of vanilla ice-cream will be served for the a la carte order. The base layer was crunchy as promised, and rich with aroma of hazelnut. The chocolate itself was thick, luscious and creamy, a lovely contrast to its crackling base - a lovely indulgence for chocolate and nut lovers.I debated between Riviera and Foret Noir (blackforest) for a long time before settling on the former (usual price SGD$8.80). The colorful Riviera is made up of genoise almond sponge layered with cherry mousse, iranian pistachio and cherry macaron. When ordered a la carte, it will be served with seasonal berries, mango and raspberry sauce. This cake is soft and moist, with a gentle cherry flavor amongst the hints of nuts. The tiny macaron sitting atop adds a bonus crunch and sweetness to it; overall the Riviera tastes every bit as good as it looks. For full review and more photographs, please visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2015/02/afternoon-tea-at-bakerzin-united-square.html continue reading

Cake was a must whenever birthday celebration, agree? However, who started the idea of candle blowing, I was in the midst. Square-shaped birthday cake with my name visible, it was so desirable and cute. One of the best sellers at Bakerzin, this cake was completed by exclusive blend of 68% Cocoa Powder. Two alternate layers within, one was flourless Sponge Cake and the other was decadent Chocolate Mousse. The texture therefore was perfect, not too sweet or greasy. $35 for this cake, it was the cheapest among those on the tray I guessed. continue reading

My colleages bought a box of Sweet Pleasure snow skin mooncakes from this outlet. At $88 for a box of eight pieces, he is really generous to us. Their mooncakes here are quite special as there are cocoa powder in it and also a base of the French biscuit as well. Even though is a bit too sweet, but the thick flavour of the cocoa powder really has enhance the taste of it. The box is also quite elegant and can be kept as a gift box to put your own items after you have finish the mooncakes. continue reading

Yet another visit to Bakerzin, albeit a different outlet this time round. As the husband and I had a pretty heavy breakfast, we decided to have a light lunch this time round and ordered a salad and some small bites.Waldorf Salad (11.50++)Consisting of Fuji apples, cherry tomatoes, celery, dried cranberries and walnuts tossed in plain yoghurt, this healthy appetizer is not only wholesome but yummy as well! The crunchy apple chunks were a delight to munch on. Truly a guilt-free dish to satisfy our mid day craving! Baked Sausages ($11.50++)The Bartwurst sausages were chewy and paired well with the sauteed potatoes and mushrooms. However, I found this dish to be too oily and salty for my liking although it was still pretty tasty. Warm Chocolate Cake ($11.50++)And to top it off, we had the molten chocolate cake as with our previous visit. Pretty similar standard (for details, pls refer to our post "A flair for fillet...") between outlets I must say. Still as yummy! continue reading

came here to grab a birthday cake for a birthday celebration. Decided to get a cheesecake since cheesecakes are always so widely accepted. The cheesecake was of a high quality and was smooth and creamy and very decadent and delicious. Being cookies and cream flavoured, the cheesecake was topped with cookie crumbs which added an extra flavour dimension to the cake continue reading
