For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/10/quayside-fish-bar-bistro.htmlQuayside Fish Bar & Bistro has different menu(s) presented at different times of the day. Coincidentally, we went on a weekend and brunch is available to, aside from the ala-carte menu. The Full Monty Brekkie ($24.00), which has a pair of German pork sausage, rainbow trout, poached eggs, paprika hollandaise, toasted focaccia, roasted tomato and fresh organic mixed greens.Overall was ok, but the poached egg style is first of a kind to me. Firm whites but oozy yolk, which I don't see it in other F& B establishments. My personal preference goes to the version did by Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro! In addition, added credit to the rainbow trout which although thin slices, the sweetness of it made me loved it already.Tiger Beer-Battered Halibut ($26.00), a lunch item in the ala-carte menu that comes with white truffle-scented shoestring fries, wasabi-infused yuzu shoyu, and tartar.Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro aims to serve freshly-supplied seafood on a daily basis, and I have no doubt about it. Tiger Beer-Battered Halibut is quite a satisfaction as the fish meat looks silky-soft and easily comes off like a flake. The taste is nonetheless marvellous. There are several restaurant surrounding the marina, and prices are not cheap either. But once awhile, some pampering is still needed to award yourself for having gone through the hectic work week. For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/10/quayside-fish-bar-bistro.html continue reading

If you ever watch the movie Safe Haven and love the set-up of a seaside restaurant, Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro is definitely a better place for the unfolding of a love story. The waterfront breeze makes it cooling to have an alfresco dining, and there is a choice to sit indoors if you prefer brighter lighting. Sitting outdoors, of course, would grant you a magnificent view of the sunset over the yatches. From time to time, you'll see owners walking their dogs under the stars of the moonlit night. The store is so spacious, that dancing around tables would be easy. It feels totally different from the hustle and bustle of the stressful Singapore— truly a place where conversations are light-hearted and you can take things slow and easy.Unlike most sleezy bars, the bar in Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro is brightly litted. Surprisingly, it does not destroy the mood of having a good time.BOCKTAIL PAIRINGRekorderlig Cider - S$12.90 (per bottle), S$10.90 (hh)A choice of Strawberry & Lime OR WildberriesWe were introduced to one of the most refreshing drink ever. It was filled with delicious fresh antioxidant fruits such as strawberries and blueberries, topped with a refreshing drink of the Rekorderlig cider. It was a great opening to the evening ahead.STARTERTuna Tataki - S$19.00One of the more interesting palates was the Tuna tataki, which consisted of Pear crumble, wakame seaweed, avruga caviar, edible flower. Do not fear that it looks slightly raw, because it has been briefly seared over a hot flame without destroying the taste. Only the best can taste great in its original form (with little heating). The bits and pieces from the pear crumble was an ingenious idea, a perfect combination to the avruga caviar and wakame seaweed. Salad of The DayChef’s Selection of Salad — (Price: Refer to blackboard menu as it changes daily)This dish is changed daily depending on what comes in fresh on that day. While I think that QSFB could improve on their plating skills for this dish, every bit about the salad was fresh and juicy. The tiger prawns were served with yellow frisy and scallops, making every bite succulent and juicy. The sauces used were really balanced, with none overpowering it each other.MAIN COURSEQSFB’s signature chilli crab linguine - S$28.00A house specialty pastaThis is probably the star of the entire meal. The soft-shell chilli crab rests upon a bed of linguine, innocently waiting for its food-tasting verdict. There is nothing overly pretentious about the dish, except for flakes of mixed herbs strewn across the plate. It was indeed a great pairing with the linguine as the smooth pasta went really well with the crispy protein.Baked Barramundi - S$29.00Pumpkin puree, red wine poached pear, lobster butter sauce, fried chorizoMy favourite among the plate was the lobster butter sauce — you must pair it with the Baked Barramundi to make it taste great. The consistency of the pumpkin puree was not as smooth, as I could still taste the bits and pieces of the pumpkin. The red wine poached pear don't really look as good, but it is actually a marriage of unique flavours.COCKTAIL PAIRINGSex at Quayside - S$16.00 (gls), S$14.00 (hh)prosecco, peach schnapps, cranberry juice, orange juiceWhile most of my diners love this drink, my youth must have made me think that it was too strong for me. STRANGELY, I keep wanting to slurp for more (until I ended up finishing the drink). On a random note, the tall glass made me felt like I was in Hawaii.DESSERTHomemade Tiramisu - S$14.00The best in Sentosa, some say SingaporeOne of the most difficult part of a full-meal is the dessert. Most chefs cannot make great dessert, but the chefs behind Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro managed to ace my expectations on their Tiramisu. The Tiramisu is really well-balanced, light and fairy on the inside, with a slight sweet-bitter touch accompanied by the coffee and liquor. COCKTAIL PAIRING Chocolate Dreams - S$18.00 (gls), S$16.00 (hh)vodka, kahlua, cacao brown, baileys, milk and chocolate rimMy first impression of this drink was that it LOOKED quite diluted, but my oh my, it tasted great that I wanted so much more! Gulping down the cocktail was a great signal to my tastebuds that my meal has officially ended, though I knew somewhere in me craved for more. By the time I exited the restaurant, about 2.5-3 hours have passed. It was a great ending to the night, and I'll definitely make it a point to visit the restaurant someday. Don't fret if it seems out of the way — it is well worth it! continue reading

Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro (QSFB) is located in Sentosa Cove, with the splendid waterfront view just in front of the door step. Slow stroll to the restaurant in such a grogeous sunset setting will definitely make you happy and improve your appetite I reckon. The interior design is minimalist, with a big mirror hanging on the wall to create a spacious feeling. Love the wine rack for sure! That sets the dinner mood just right. To kick start the meal, Rekorderlig Cider is a good choice. The light alcoholic drink with a hint of sweetness is very easy to drink. You can choose to pair it with strawberry, lime or wildberries. Mine was the strawberries + blueberries, I purposely left the strawberries to the last, let it soaked up the Cider before eating them. Try it, you'll love it. Salad of The Day is designed according to what's fresh on that particular day. Ours was the Scallops, Tiger Prawns, served with Yellow Frisee. The seafood is really fresh here, I particularly like the firm texture of the Tiger Prawns. Another starter, we have the Tuna Tataki. One of my favourite dish of the night. The sliced tuna was seared very briefly over a hot flame, giving you a charred outer layer but maintaining the tenderness of fresh sashimi in the middle. Topped with avruga carviar, the tuna slices were resting on a bed of salad, consisting of pear crumble and wakame seaweed. You will have a sweet after taste from the yuzu and caramelized onion sauce, a pleasant feeling. Main course was the QSFB's Signature Chilli Crab Linguine. The "very normal" looking dish was definitely a surprise! Topped with a deep-fried soft-shell crab, the linguine was cooked with chilli crab sauce and generous amount of fresh crab meat! You get both the sweetness and spiciness, very well-balanced. Thumbs up! The Baked Barramundi was served with pumpkin puree, red wine poached pear and a dish of lobster butter sauce. The fish was very fresh, although not as tender as I was expected. However, the rich lobster butter sauce has won my heart. It's very flavourful, slightly more savoury than what you usually get from the loster bisque. Main course was paired with a cocktail - Sex at Quayside. It's a mix of prosecco, peach schnapps, cranberry juice and orange juice, a relatively strong drink with a kick! A scumptious meal won't be completed if it's without dessert hey! We had the Homemade Tiramisu. The well-balanced coffee and liquor taste was to my liking, it's moist, but how I wish it can be more creamy and rich bodied. We had the Chocolate Dreams (vodka, kahlua, cocoa brown and milk) to go with the Tiramisu. Not overly strong, just the perfect closing for a wonderful meal. QSFB is definitely a good place for chillax. Fresh and yummy seafood, very nice drinks, and gorgeous view! Cheers! continue reading

I was happy to be invited by Nightdowhat and Openrice for a food tasting event at Quayside Fish Bar & Bistro (QSFB) in Sentosa. I met up with another 2 OpenSnap users (Shermaine and Yun Hwa) and the 3 of us had a good time yesterday. My review are as below:QSFBThis place has a wonderful cozy, fisherman themed atmosphere. I love the beautiful yacht scenery during sunset. This place attracts people who are into Mediterranean cuisine.Rekorderlig CiderThe cider is pink with amazing inviting strawberry aroma. The taste is sweet with a subtle lime under tone. I found out Rekorderlig ciders come in at low ABV which makes this an exceptional refreshing drink.Tuna TatakiThe cut of tuna fish were fresh and the sauces that complemented it married well. I like the pear crumble which Shida told us has a special yuzu taste.Baked BarramundiThey served the barramundi whole and I love the red wine poached pear with lobster butter sauce and fried chorizo. There is a modern twist on the traditional dish which highlighted barramundi versatility.QSFB's signature chilli crab linguineHey presto! I really whacked the whole plate of sweet and chilly linguine! The soft shell crabs are not overbattered or overfried and the crunch comes from the fried batter.Homemade TiramisuThe menu reads "The best in Sentosa, some say Singapore!" The rich rum and coffee-soaked lady fingers layered with generous custard and whipped cream leaves me wanting MORE! Really awesome dessert to wrap up for the day!In conclusion, I will give a thumbs up for this great restaurant! Not only is the food wonderful (and aesthetically pleasant looking), the people are friendly and customer oriented and the atmosphere is pretty awesome as well.Give this place a try!Thank youSpecial thanks to Reka (OpenRice), Eli and Sharon (Nightdowhat) and Shida (QSFB) for the invitation and hospitality and hosting us for the sumptuous dinner! continue reading
