When my ex-colleague and me reached the shop, we saw the wordings "Real Food Fod Real Heart". We definitely know that the restaurant owner will not have any GST and Service Charge. In addition, they are Halal-certified restaurant. We never tried it's Soup of the day because it is Tomato Soup only.Le Steak offers 3 types of steak - Ribeye, Sirloin and Prime Tenderloin. My ex-colleague is having his second time for his Sirloin with the mushroom sauce due to it's juicy with French Fries. Sirloin Steak must be tender and the kind of juiciness that expressed out in your mouth when the Korean waitress served it rare (means 30% cook). It gives an amazing taste. For him is very special because he cannot eat it WITHOUT the sauces, so he claimed that the waiter or waitress can recognise him and always served two cups of mushroom sauce.Ribeye steak nice and juicy with both Fries and salad being served. Different set of fries being served in this restaurant as compared with other places.Cheap and good (Affordable) steak to fulfill the tummy for both of us. Good job from kitchen staffs because everything that we had was delicious although this restaurant is quite small but cozy. Besides that, their staffs are friendly. Conclusion: A good choice for a catering in the Jalan Kayu area because the restaurant has it's own Outback Trekker Gas Series Portable BBQ. continue reading

For more photos and full review, please visit http://thumbsforfood.blogspot.sg/2014/02/le-steak-by-chef-amri-thumbsforfood.html Le Steak by Chef Amri is one of the few halal restaurants that serve up steak. As such, when I heard of it's setting up at Jalan Kayu, it has been on my must-try halal food places. For those who know Chef Amri will know that he is a Celebrity Chef on Suria Channel. Besides being known for his charming persona, Chef Amri is known for his creativity in making healthy yet tasty dishes. On Fridays, Weekends, eve of PH and PH, Le Steak offers Fresh Shucked Live Oyster for $22 half a dozen. The oysters are really fresh. For the price, we felt that it was quite worth it. For those who have not tried raw oysters, Le Steak is definitely a good place to try some!We also ordered Onion Rings ($3) which was served with Mustard Sauce and Mayonnaise. The mayonnaise came as a shock for us because it was blue! Look at how striking the blue is. We really have no idea why the mayonnaise was blue. However, the taste of it was of starking difference to the color as it was quite bland. We feel that the price of sides in Le Steak is quite reasonable, priced at $3.Le Steak offers 3 types of steak- Ribeye, Sirloin and Prime Tenderloin. Tenderloin is the most expensive among the 3, priced at $28.90. We feel that the steak was reasonably priced for the portion that was served. The steak was a little too well done I felt. I ordered medium but, it was more of a medium well done steak. Flavour wise, I would say it is not too bad. I felt that if it were to be served hot, it would have been better. My friend ordered Seafood Marinara ($13.90) which she was quite satisfied due to the generous serving of seafood that included mussels, squid and prawns. This dish was served hot which was a great plus point. The tomato base was well-done, not too sour nor sweet. For those looking for a pasta dish, this would be a good dish to order.Waffle with 2 scoops of Ice Cream ($8.90) is available only on weekends. I would say the waffle was quite well-done, fluffy and fragrant. The maple syrup was not too overwhelming, preserving the flavor of the waffle. I would have appreciated that they have more flavors of icecream or homemade icecream instead of only having chocolate or vanilla.Overall, I feel that Le Steak offers Muslim patrons a different dining experience. We would come back again for affordable priced steak. Their desserts were quite a pleasure too. Hopefully, next time around when we dine in Le Steak, the food will be served hot! continue reading

Jalan Kayu has been famed for having the best roti prata in Singapore. Notwithstanding, it is also home to some renowned eateries that has chosen to grow its roots here. It is little wonder that one chef famous for his appearance in food programs aired by Suria has chosen Jalan Kayu to open his restaurant – Chef Amri. The Inhouse Coffee looked and tasted like a single shot of espresso. The taste was not too strong but rather bitter. The Beef Burger & Fries. The beef patty is juicy and came in a rather huge portion. The Black Pepper Chicken resembles a bit like the Black Pepper Chicken at Aston’s, except that this tasted better. The veggies tasted flavourful (definitely the result of blanching them nicely before cooking then). The Lemon Curd Tart is crusty and the lemon curd taste is strong (which reminds me of the taste of lemon biscuits). However, it was rather hard to eat this as the crust was rather hard and firm to cut off. This is a great place to come for halal Western food. If you are around Jalan Kayu, this place is a good spot for dinner/supper (after which you can go for roti prata!)For the full review and more photos http://makanarts.com/2013/12/13/le-steak-by-chef-amri-248-jalan-kayu/ continue reading

Had my lunch in this Western food restaurant on this afternoon. Restaurant environment was really quiet and very spacious and cooling. Staffs are friendly and approachable.Their sirloin steak was quite tender and juicy, which the meat is not overly cooked, just at the correct texture. The cream of mushroom soup was really fragrant, which you can really taste the generous amount of diced mushroom in it. Dessert which I have tried their brownies with vanilla ice cream was alright, with moist chocolate cake sponge and ice cream is smooth and not too sweet as well. continue reading

I was quite excited to check out this place as there are very few halal steak restaurants in Singapore and I knew about this place through a review on someone's blog & decided to bring one of my good friend here for her birthday! This place only allow reservation for a minimum of 10 pax onwards and so the 3 of us walk-in and thankfully there were more than enough seats available! I guess probably because we arrive around mid afternoon. All their mains come with 2 side dishes and their prices are very reasonable! Even better, all prices are nett meaning there is no GST and service charge! We ordered the Live Oysters to share, which were only available from Fridays to Sundays. When they served us the grilled fish, I was taken aback by the bluish colour stuff on the plate, only to find out later that it was mashed potato! It tasted slightly weird but the fish and garlic bread were tasty! They were not selling PS Ribeye that day and so we settled for PS Sirloin and the Prime Tenderloin. After trying both steaks, the PS Sirloin is less tender than the Prime Tenderloin and I guess that explains the almost double in price. The Tenderloin is much more lean, tender and contains lesser fat when compared to the Sirloin. Their signature dessert is Creme Brulee, which consist of a rich custard base topped with a contrasting layer of caramel. It was deliciously decadent! We all left the place with happy stomachs! continue reading
