Prawn Mee

From TV to newspapers and magazine, there is no shortage of coverage on 545 Whampoa Prawn Noodles stall in all major media outlets, simply because it’s manned by Ruifang – a university graduate! Having inherited the prawn noodle stall from her parents, this is a rare phenomenon in our local hawker scene: a young university graduate giving up the comfort of an office, in exchange for a hot and humid food centre cooking prawn mee.But in case you doubt her skills, RuiFang evidently knows stuff. Visit her stall and you can witness how skillful she is in whipping up bowl after bowl of prawn mee.545 Whampoa Prawn Noodles does not offer bigger prawns – instead, she serves up traditional prawn mee with small shrimp and pork slices. So none of those $20 a bowl prawn mee you can find at other prawn mee stalls. We ordered both the soup version and dry version for a comparison.Must try the Dry version prawn noodle! The chilli mixture blended quite well with the noodles, and the flavour reminded us of the prawn mee we used to buy from the back alleys back in the old days. A nostalgic bowl of prawn noodles, it was hearty and homey. Please refer to www.ieatandeat.com for details review. 繼續閱讀

Luckily this Speciality Food Shop open this morning because my friend, Mr. Michael Tan wants to have breakfast at one of the oldest hawker stalls in Singapore.Kindly note that they opened another branch of Whampoa prawn noodles at Tekka Centre. Prawn Noodles. If you want to know who is the Head Chef at 545 Whampoa Prawn Noodles - Tekka Food Centre Branch,, please visit https://www.facebook.com/ruifang for more information of Miss Li Ruifang's profile. Hope you can add this in 1 of your "THE MUST TRY LIST".If you do have the time, I think it's definitely worth the wait. When it comes to prawn noodles, I prefer the dry version because it comes with a bowl of soup. As you can see from the above picture that they just served the noodles with a spoonful of chilli paste and/or tomato ketchup. That's why, the dry version is even more popular than the soup version at this stall. Conclusion: It's very delicious! ♡ Highly recommended because you can definitely taste the prawns in the soup! 繼續閱讀

This is a very unique prawn noodles I have taken for many years. The soup taste is great, thick and strong. I like to eat it with the soup. As for the dry ones, its taste is very delicious too, I love it! There is a very long queue though, because everybody in whampoa loves this unique prawn noodles! It does deserves the best grading and the owner is very friendly and nice. Come and try it you will love it too. Thumbs up! 繼續閱讀

The noodles were a tad too soft for my liking. The chilli paste lacked of spicyness but sure was salty. The prawns tasted okay but the worst was the soup; so disappointing….luckily I ordered a dry prawn noodle instead. The soup, though looks thick and dark, tasted nothing close to nice. Watery and tasteless, I found myself leaving that bowl of soup behind. 繼續閱讀

Was around this area and my friend highly recommended this stall saying that it has been around for a decade or two and very popular. I was won over by her recommendations and headed straight to the stall and ordered a prawn noodle with rice vermicelli in soup. Took the first sip on the soup and it brought back those old school feelings of a good old traditional prawn noodle. I was told that the dried version were better but when it comes to prawn noodle, I rather have the soup version. One plus point also that they made their own fried shallots for garnishing and not those commercial kind otherwise it will ruined the whole thing. 繼續閱讀
