I love amoy street food centre as there are many stalls selling really tasty food. But I dislike the crowd when it comes to lunch hour. To avoid squeezing with the office people, I decided to takeaway my lunch and eat it at the comfortable aircon office of mine. As I didn't know what to eat, i decided to just go to the first stall I see - Fried kway teow. The auntie is friendly and fast in action and in no time, I managed to get my packet of fried kway teow. Unlike other stall, they provide lime for u if you like ur food to be more strong in flavor, which I love it. The kway teow is fried to perfection, though a bit dry (guess is because I da bao back) but the taste is there - sweet and savory! The ingredients given is also generous and fresh! 繼續閱讀

FoodWhen asked about Char Kway Teow, everyone has told me that there is one famous Fried Kway Teow stall in Amoy Street and finally this morning, I had a taste of it. Here again we have a stall with name that is rather generic but straight to the point, telling the customers the main dish the stall is offering.Standing at the side of the stall while waiting for the Fried Kway Teow to be ready, I noticed the lady was busying cutting the the chinese sausage ("Luk Cheong") into pieces. Besides preparing the ingredients, she is also taking orders from the incoming customers. It is not very often we get to see a plate of fried kway teow with lime by the side but this stall and done it. Located at the first unit of the hawker centre on the ground floor, it was quite prominent. As we are sitting on the 2nd floor of the hawker centre, we took the plate and climb up the flight of stairs, we can smell the aroma of the char kway teow.Comes with generous portions of Chinese sausages, "hum"(Cockles) and bean sprouts. Given a full marks of 10 I will rate this plate 7 out of 10. The plate of char kway teow was too dense to my liking and quite slippery as I had trouble grabbing them with my chopsticks. The aroma from the plate could not last long and I thought the fried kway teow can taste abit sweeter. ServiceService was better than average. The soft spoken lady who had actually handed over the plate of kway teow to us told us to be careful and the right method of holding it.AmbienceLuckily, there were no long queues and waiting time is still acceptable.PriceReasonable priced Fried Kway Teow in the CBD area! 繼續閱讀

This stall had been around here for a long time. I just liked like the way it was cooked, slightly damper version. I would ask for extra chilli and "hum" aka cockles. The Fried Kway Tiao and noodles were cooked just right, when I put the kway tiao into my mouth it will melt in my mouth type of feeling and at the same time it will nnot get stuck somewhere betwwen the teeth. As for the "hum".... Hmmm just cooked it right neither too hard where by it's overcooked or too soft whereby under cooked. But the potion is very small, if you are a big eater would suggest getting this as a side dish or order extra plate which I did.Cost: $2.50, $3.00 extra hum 繼續閱讀

This stall is located on the first floor of Amoy Street Food Centre. In fact, first stall at the corner nearest to the POSB atm machine. A pretty prominent spot, if you ask me.It only serves fried kway teow, the only difference is that you can request for cockles or not, which I did because I actually like them. The kway teow was delicious but rather oily at the same time. I heard that this stall has been around for decades, maybe hence the heritage recipe. 繼續閱讀

This fried kway teow stall was one of the very few stalls that were open during dinner time at this Amoy Street Food Centre. It was actually recommended by a colleague who has rather expectation for fried kway teow. She told me their fried kway teow is nice so i decided to give it a try.It was around 7pm, you can see that almost everyone is having their fried kway teow! I was thinking, wow, it must be really very nice! I must get myself a plate too.So got myself a plate. Hmm, i was a little dissapointed that my plate of fried kway teow wasnt very nice. You can see that my plate of kway teow is a bit 'pale' looking, it was not as dark looking as others. It was too soggy and wet and the taste was too bland, not enough sweet sauce. I believe they must be a lack of consistency of the standard of the fried kway teow. Will still give it a try the next time. 繼續閱讀
