"Let's make love, coffee, and magic" - famous catchy words that ring in one's head, long after they have been uttered. Opened by Ryan Tan - Singapore National Barista Champion - some say Asean National Barista Champion as well, and some say National Barista Champion three times over - how could one not want to pop by and try their coffee? The interior of Strangers' Reunion was calming, minimalistic and pretty, with exotic paintings adorning the wall. The only qualm was probably the cramped tables - too close to each other. Service was attentive enough, but the level of understanding was a little ruffled. The array of cakes looked so tempting - if we weren't having the set dinners, I would have ordered the colorful Rainbow Cheesecake for sure. The first item aka appetizer was the Inside Out Scotch Egg - cheddar-filled sausage wrapped in egg, with salted egg yolk hollandaise, petit salad and tomato relish. It was the most innovative and tasty dish of the night - loved the crusty battering of the egg and the tasty fillings within the halved hard-boiled egg. The cheddar stood out in particular, heightening the overall flavour of this dish.Next came the main course - consisting of their signature Buttermilk Waffle with yogurt-marinated kashmiri fried chicken, served with southern gravy, red cabbage slaw and corn salad. The fluffy waffles were crispy and light in texture, melting in the mouth with a faintly-detectable buttermilk fragrance. The fried chicken was fairly normal; it went well eaten together with the waffle, cabbage slaw and corn salad in one bite. For full review and more detailed information please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2015/12/dinner-at-strangers-reunion-cafe.html 繼續閱讀

For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/08/strangers-reunion.htmlStrangers' Reunion does serve a variety of food, and also on the growing trend healthy eating, yogurt is also available in the menu, if you looking for something light, unfailing your diet routine.Cafe Latte. As mentioned earlier, aromatic smell of the coffees in Strangers' Reunion is sure to perk you up! While I am not much of a coffee drinker, my companion does agree with the mass that the coffee here is definitely to-order-for.House Smoked Salmon Benedict with hazelnut bearnaise, fera, walnut crumble, petit salad & sultana bread. Generous serving of salmon slices and a pair of oozy egg benedicts. Both of these items have made up a wonderful brunch already.Truffle Fries. I admit that the price is steeper than what you would normally expect in other cafes, and I do feel the ache too. Despite the price, it has a strong truffle smell, and the serving is deem suitable to be shared among 2 pax as a side dish.Another recommendation in Strangers' Reunion is their buttermilk waffles! Buttermilk Waffles with Homemade Mixed Berry Compote, with choice of either Greek yogurt or vanilla ice cream. I had of course, opt for the Greek yogurt, as ice cream is too commonly used in other cafes.Strangers' Reunion waffles are crispy on the outer, but fluffy in the inside. This enable the yogurt and berry sauce to get soak into the waffle when dabbed, allowing the sweetness not just on the outside. We went around 3 plus in the late afternoon, but the cafe is still pretty packed. Although each of the crew are busy, they do also diligently attend to your requests when requested. Service is definitely up to mark. For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2015/08/strangers-reunion.html 繼續閱讀

The waffle is always the best in town!  People are saying that here's noisy and crowded but it's the icon of popularity!  It's exactly the same as 2am dessert bar and it has its icon which is the buttermilk waffle. The waffle is slightly crispy and soft inside.   Never stale in my 2 attempts to there.  It's match with vanilla ice cream is always perfect. The coffee is good but still like many other artisan hand craft coffee places they are not as delicate as Japanese coffee where you could always find them as soft as silk.  If it's to improve is to enhance the after taste of the coffee and prolong the time the aroma staying in your mouth. If the temperature of the glass could be kept warm always it'd be good, although I fully understand that the weakness of serving with glasses like that if its getting too warm it's difficult to hold - that's why many other coffee shops in the world use ceramic cups!!!Other breakfast items are refreshing and healthy but there are improvement in having more complicated taste, like the salad with avocado mash on toast it'd put some balsamic vinegar on  the salad to make the taste more interesting.Again it's always a good coffee place to go in this area! 繼續閱讀

Strangers' Reunion is a cafe located at Kampong Bahru Road, opposite Singapore General Hospital. There has been alot of hype about this cafe online as it was opened by Singapore National Barista Championship winner Ryan Tan.When we arrived at around 1145 am on a weekday, the brightly lite cafe was already filled to the brim. We had to share a table with another group - strangers (the name of the cafe =P). The cafe was not what I imagined it to be; cozy, quiet.Instead, it was crowded, noisy and squeezy especially if you are seated at the row of table with sofa and cushion (right part of above photo). Those who were seated there had to move their tables to allow their friends to access the sofa area and also for their friends to leave.Menu (a)Menu (b)The menu.Left to right: Cafe Mocha $5.50 and Cappuccino $4.90My partner ordered a Cafe Mocha $5.50 while I ordered a Cappuccino $4.90. Both beverages were disappointing. The Cappuccino (which i ordered) was too milky and the distinct richness and taste of espresso was missing.Truffle Fries $12.90The Truffles Fries $12.90 came with grated truffle, truffled aioli and parmesan. It was a pity consistency was lacking (some fries were hard while some were soggy), if not this would have been a great side dish.Buttermilk Waffles with Artisan Greek Yogurt & Fresh Fruits $12.90Since we had heard so much about the buttermilk waffles, we had to order one to try for ourselves. We ordered the Buttermilk Waffles with Artisan Greek Yogurt & Fresh Fruits $12.90. So beautiful and enticing in appearance! However, the thick, fluffy waffle did not match up to our expectations as it lacked flavour and fragrance. Needless to say, I was not impressed with the food and drinks we had at Strangers' Reunion. I do not understand the hype. As we left, we noticed that there was a long queue outside, waiting for their turn fora table in the cafe (on a weekday)!! There must be something worth going back for, I wonder what was it. Well, everyone has differing taste; as the saying goes one man's poison is another man's meat. http://foodiefc.blogspot.sg/2014/02/strangers-reunion-at-kampong-bahru-road.html 繼續閱讀

More food reviews at http://rachelays.blogspot.com It was a 15 minutes wait before we were seated. If you are looking for a quiet and cozy cafe to chill and hangout at, forget about Strangers' Reunion. It was very noisy during the peak hours and I could hardly hear my companion."Magic" $5.50The caffeine taste was bitter and strong. The milk foam was creamy and smooth. Magic is made up of double shot ristretto and milk. Cafe Mocha $5.50A well balanced combination of cocoa, caffeine, and milk. Loving the lovely swan art too.Flat White. Lovely art as usual.Florentine $18We found this overpriced and the portion did not justify for the price. The egg yolk was not at all runny as it was overcooked and the hollandaise sauce was not sufficient so it was quite dry as the yolk did not provide the needed moisture. The bread was also soggy but we love the overall taste of this dish. Everything went well together.Waffles with greek yogurt and mixed fruits $11.50The slightly sweet and acidic taste of the yogurt went so well with the light and fluffy waffles. The moment I tried it I fell in love with it. Definitely one of the better waffles I had tried!Mixed Fruits WafflesThey could have been more generous with the strawberries. The maple syrup was really sweet but it complemented the waffles well. So far, my favourite rendition has got to be the waffles with greek yogurt.Prices aren't cheap but it is still worth a try if you love waffles. Be prepared to queue even at off-peak hours because they are almost always full. 繼續閱讀
